For over six decades Department of Nutritional Research (DNR) investigators have conducted the country's most advanced studies on nutrition, food and human health. Our research focuses on determining the nutrient requirements necessary to promote well-being for children and adults. Our scientists examine how nutrition plays a role in the prevention of the major diseases affecting modern man today and conditions associated with aging.
DNR scientists are trained in disciplines such as nutrition, molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, internal medicine, and public health; they explore relationships between nutrition and food impact on human health. Many of our researchers hold faculty appointments at MedicalSchool and School of Biology, University of Belgrade. Our scientists have learned that healthy fat can have a major beneficial effect on the rate of different diseases. They have found links between nutritional factors and risks of obesity, diabetes, liver health and regeneration, pre and post natal development, and mental health. These scientific insights have provided DMN the foundation for domestic and international collaborations in the form of research networks. An active part of everyday activities is work with public in the form of recommendations for healthful diets and nutrient intakes throughout life.
