Training Opportunities for Younger Scientists - 14-17 March 2010,
EURRECA's highly regarded professional development course for younger scientists. To be held between 14-17 March 2010 in This course has previously only been available to members of the EURRECA Network, but is now being opened up to a LIMITED number of external delegates. Please book early, as we expect demand will be high! The course content covers communication skills for young scientists essential for future professional development, with particular attention to the skills needed for addressing different audiences, including using Powerpoint in scientific presentations, making successful research proposals, and communicating with the media. Each course has a specific ‘scientific’ focus relating to the work of EURRECA on Micronutrients and input from colleagues from national Nutrition Societies and bodies like EFSA. Delegates are asked to complete a small amount of pre-course work, to ensure that the course makes the most effective use of the time available. Delegate comments from previous courses include: “this was done very professionally & I would recommend my colleagues to attend next year” “Atmosphere was lovely throughout – welcoming, friendly & inviting. Useful to meet with other delegates & very enjoyable. “the course has fulfilled the aim to be very knowledgeable; many take home messages & updates” “Excellent organisation, presentations & content” “Very good. I think it covered all the necessary for people here to learn about EURRECA and also for those here on a more personal/professional mission” Delegates rated the course overall 4.82 out of 5 (with 9 delegates rating the course ‘5’ ie, excellent). The full programme will be published in early 2010.
